RunFirst
Run first. Scroll later.
A fitness app that locks distracting apps until you've completed your daily walk or run, earning screen time through movement.
About

RunFirst is a fitness motivation app that locks your most distracting apps—Instagram, YouTube, Netflix, TikTok, and others—each morning until you complete your daily walk or run. The app converts distance into screen time, with every kilometer earning 15 minutes of access to your chosen apps.
The app follows a 90-day journey designed for people starting from zero fitness. Day 1 begins with a 10-minute walk, and the daily goal grows gradually through the program. Walking and running both count toward your goal, and Apple Watch workouts are supported. RunFirst uses GPS tracking and iPhone's native Health data, with built-in protections against cheating—manual Health entries don't count.
Beyond basic tracking, RunFirst includes Run Reels, which automatically generate 15-second vertical videos of your runs for sharing to Instagram Stories. Additional features include Fight mode for competitive races with others, a weekly leaderboard, customizable strictness levels, built-in rest days, and mood tracking. All data remains private on your device unless you choose to share it.

Quick answers
- What if I can't run?
- Walking counts. RunFirst is built for people starting from zero, with week one featuring short walks with occasional one-minute jogs, and the plan growing gradually as fitness improves.
- What is a Run Reel?
- A 15-second vertical video made on your iPhone featuring a 3-second clip as you head out, your route, km and pace, the moment your apps unlocked, and a 3-second finish clip. You can share it to Instagram Stories in one tap, post it anywhere, or save to Photos.
- Does it work with Apple Watch?
- Yes. Walking and running workouts recorded on your Apple Watch land in Apple Health, and RunFirst counts them. A dedicated Watch app is on the roadmap.
- How does the leaderboard work?
- Every week from Monday to Sunday UTC, the people with the most kilometers are ranked at the top. Walks and runs tracked in RunFirst both count, Apple Watch workouts are verified by the iPhone's step counter, and Fight mode wins count double. Users appear as a nickname and flag only, with options to hide themselves anytime.
- Is my data private?
- Yes. Apple's Screen Time hides which apps you lock from RunFirst. Routes, videos and raw Health data stay on your iPhone. Journey data is backed up to your account for iPhone transfers. The app includes no ads and never sells data.
