How do I claim and verify my listing?

Take ownership of your company's listing and receive the Verified badge by proving you control its domain.

Updated

Claim your listing

Find your company's listing on Business Listing Info and select "Claim", or go directly to /claim/<listing>. You'll be asked to prove you control the company domain using one of four methods.

Choose your verification method

Pick whichever suits you best:

  • Email verification: we send a link to an address at your domain; click it to confirm.
  • DNS record: add a TXT record to your root domain.
  • Homepage meta tag: place a meta tag in your site's HTML.
  • Verification file: upload a small file to your website.

Verification codes expire after 14 days. If yours has expired, begin the claim process again.

What the Verified badge means

Once verified, you become the listing owner (if it was unclaimed). You can then edit all the information on file. The Verified badge confirms you control the domain—it is never sold and sits apart from paid placement and votes on the site.

Verified status is a reference point. It shows visitors that the information has been confirmed by the founder or authorised owner, not guessed or sourced from elsewhere.

Questions people ask

Which verification method should I use?
Any of the four methods work equally well. Choose based on what you find easiest: email is quickest if you have access to your domain mailbox; DNS and meta tag methods suit those comfortable editing site settings; file upload works if you can add files to your web root.
What happens after my verification code expires?
The code becomes invalid and you cannot use it. Return to the claim page at /claim/<listing> and start the verification process over with a fresh code.
Can I lose my Verified badge later?
The badge stays on file as long as you remain the confirmed owner. It reflects that you have proven domain control at the time of claim.
