DecodeMyBio
Pharmacogenomic analysis from your existing DNA data
DecodeMyBio analyzes raw DNA data from 23andMe or AncestryDNA to reveal medication responses and drug-gene interactions based on CPIC clinical guidelines.
About

DecodeMyBio lets you upload raw DNA data from consumer testing services like 23andMe or AncestryDNA and analyzes it against established clinical pharmacogenomics guidelines to reveal how your genes affect medication responses. The platform extracts clinically relevant pharmacogenomic variants from your file and maps them to CPIC (Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium) drug-gene guidelines, helping you understand which medications may need dose adjustments, alternative drugs, or extra caution based on your genetics.
The service covers 80 medications and checks eight key pharmacogenes including CYP2C19, CYP2C9, SLCO1B1, DPYD, TPMT, NUDT15, G6PD and MT-RNR1. Every finding cites its source variant and links to published CPIC guidelines. DecodeMyBio emphasizes transparency: it reports what your file cannot answer rather than guessing, and makes clear this is informational analysis intended to support conversations with healthcare providers, not replace clinical judgment.
Beyond medication response, the platform provides carrier status information, nutrition insights based on your genetics, and includes an AI assistant for explaining results in plain language. Results remain accessible indefinitely for future prescriptions and provider changes, with updates issued when CPIC revises its guidelines.

Quick answers
- What is pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing?
- Pharmacogenomic testing analyzes specific genes that affect how your body processes medications. Variations in these genes can influence whether a drug works well for you, requires a dose adjustment, or may cause adverse effects. DecodeMyBio extracts pharmacogenomic variants from your existing consumer DNA data and maps them to clinical guidelines published by CPIC.
- How does DecodeMyBio work?
- You upload your raw DNA data file from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA, or Living DNA. Decode reads the positions those files carry and matches them against CPIC's guidelines. Results appear in the app as soon as processing finishes, covering CYP2C19, CYP2C9, SLCO1B1, DPYD, TPMT, NUDT15, G6PD and MT-RNR1. Where a gene needs positions your file does not carry, Decode reports that rather than assuming a normal result.
- Is this medical advice?
- No. DecodeMyBio provides informational pharmacogenomic results, not diagnoses or prescriptions. Results are designed to support clinical conversations with your healthcare provider, not replace them. Every finding cites its variant, gene, and source so your doctor or pharmacist can verify it against published guidelines.
- How do I discuss my results with my doctor?
- Your results are written in plain language, and every finding shows the gene, variant, metabolizer phenotype, and published guideline behind it. Bring the relevant findings to your next appointment so your doctor or pharmacist can verify each one against the same CPIC guidelines they already use for pharmacogenomic prescribing.
- Which DNA testing providers are supported?
- DecodeMyBio supports raw data files from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA and Living DNA, and VCF files (.vcf or .vcf.gz) from whole-genome sequencing services like Nebula Genomics, Dante Labs and clinical genetics labs. The medication panel is built for genotyping-array files: on a sequencing VCF, CYP2C19 is the one panel gene called, and the others are reported as not measured. Note: some repeat-based variants (e.g. UGT1A1 *28) may not be representable in standard VCF files.
